It would be interesting to see how many contributers to software
actually make money off of their contributions. My gut feeling
is that the vast majority of contributers to NOT make money
off their contributions and do it for free.

I think the open source software licenses went through a period
where some of the licenses required that the original author be
notified of any modifications or derivatives that were created.
The idea pretty much got shot down some time ago.

What you're proposing sounds sort of like the same thing except
even more restrictive, so I don't think it would fly in the
FLOSS community.
