They seem to use the original FSF sense of "Free".
They recommend GPL. Since you seem to target both software and literary works GPL might be a better choice for you.
Certainly if the "source code" can be identified this might be a good solution. Or there's the OGL which despite its faults (the real ones, not the FUD ones) has a large body of gaming-related work already under it, is well known and understood, and is reasonably robust.
