I think there is a lot of potential for empowering the
creator in creative commons licenses, but much of it is yet unrealized. I wonder how you would feel about some of
the following possibilities as optional new features… Restricting printing only – or
restricting to one mode of use to the exclusion of others. You could have sound, text, etc. Restricting only public displays of
a certain size. Restricting the number of copies the user may make. Restricting the countries or geographical areas in which you
offer the license. Something could
be offered freely in Also, I believe it would be helpful to develop a system for
paid licenses as well, since information about them could be gleaned from XML
and displayed to a user browsing for useful content – this would help to
put those who want compensation of some sort on equal footing under your
licensing schemes; otherwise, it does seem like you are clearly favoring free
