There are many creative commons Licensed Film initiatives prior to this .
eg .http://youtu.be/sFmsl7KrZn8 This awardwinning Music video is licensed on CC BY SA 2.5 India License. I helped them in licensing this Most of the films by Pedestrian pictures bangalore is copylefted
Long back in 2007 we maintained a website to host films licensed under creative common licenses
