Darklight 2005 is calling all developers and innovators in digital production
to attend its symposium, exhibition and workshop event.
This forum promises to give us the answers to the increasing litany of questions on our rights and abilities as the employers of new power found in creative common licensing, citizen journalism, podcasting, blogging, ad-hoc networks, alternative broadcasting technologies, and new markets for wireless content/culture.
Darklight will engage internationally renowned key speakers, and host two
panel discussions combining the collective knowledge of experts to set the
matter straight on these issues.

---Lisa Roberts, (Blink.org, Pocket Shorts) - Perspectives on the impact of mobile technology on the future of film making and distribution.
---Michael Mc Mahon, is an interactive media developer and manager with more than 10 years experience in the TV industry. Michael was technical manager at Endemol UK and UKTV Network. Current project, IPTV focused start-up company, Molotov Digital.
---Stephen Mc Cormack, Wildwave Distribution, BitBuzz, Wildlight Channel, will give an overview of key issues from an Irish perspective.
Chaired by Rod Stoneman, Director of the Huston School. He has worked as Deputy Commissioning Editor in Independent Film and Video at Channel Four Television in London, and was Chief Executive Officer of the Irish Film Board from 1993-2003.

2. ::::MAKING MOVIES FOR THE SMALL SCREEN WORKSHOP

As part of this years Darklight Symposium we are running a three hour workshop on creating moving image content for the small and mobile screen. This workshop will cover issues involved from both a technical and creative perspective. We have invited two people engaged with this brand new discipline to share their insights with you.
---Raymond Cunningham will present a seminar providing background information on wireless communication, introducing some of the main wireless communication standards/protocols in current use, such as Bluetooth, WiFi (802.11), GSM, 3G, MMS, WAP, etc.
---Lisa Roberts, Director of Pocket Shorts, presents the best films from the first year commissions and shares tips on how to exploit the mobile phone platform to engage the audience.
