Dear Kenneth,

the most important "cost" will be the working time to be spent on the project. Literally translating and legally adapting the licenses, discussing the first draft with me and on the public mailing list will take some time and effort.

Furthermore, there could arise some costs for promotion and a possible launch event depending on what is planned for that. We usually celebrate the launch as a kind of conference, event or other activity with prominent speakers, but that is optional and up to the people in charge of the respective national CC project (e.g. launch as part of the techfest in India http://creativecommons.org/weblog/entry/7223).

Hope, that clarifies your question.

Best,

Catharina

Dear Catharina,

Could you let us what kinds of cost does the institution has to bear?

Thanks

Dear all!

First of all thank you so much for your interest in Creative Commons! I am really glad to see such a lively discussion on this list and so much enthusiasm!

Its also great to see that some of you are already planning to start the translation of the licenses. To start the official license porting process, one of the first tasks would be to identify an appropriate Affiliate Institution and a legal Project Lead as well. The legal Project Lead will oversee the submission of the first draft of the CC license for Hong Kong, which will require substantial legal changes.

Once a Project Lead and Affiliate Institution has been established, then the official work with Creative Commons will begin by signing and Memorandum of Understanding. I have already discussed these details with some of you and I would suggest to continue this discussion and try to connect everybody to make sure that we will find the right people, who are really interested in taking responsibility for this project. This - of course - might need some more time.

Thanks for your understanding.

Catharina
