Dear All,

I am new to the list, thanks Eric Eldred for re-starting this CC-HK communications with the help of Catharina Maracke in CCi Berlin.

I have special interests in the subject as I have a long history of involvements in practising music copyright being the CEO of Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong (CASH).  This kind of organization is also commonly known as "collecting society" or "authors' society", so it seems that it serves the dual purpose of collective administration of certain copyright of creators which they are unable to enforce by themselves, as well as representing the interests of authors, be it financially, culturally or morally.  The reality is not quite the same naturally.

2 years ago, I was hooked with Prof. Wang Chunyan, the person in charge of CC-China, and one year later in conjunction with the launch of CC-China, I managed to release digitally the first music album under CC-China 2.5 license, known as Pat Pet by a talented girl Mongo So from Guangzhou.  The full album is available in my company website (http://www.imaginecorp.net/cc.htm) and it is still recording several thousand downloads each month after one year.

I am very pleased to see many people in this list and it is very timely to have more exchanges due to the current law reform consultation.  I was telephone interviewed by a TVB journalist last month about my views on the law reform proposal, as he found my name associated with both CASH in the past and CC-China which seems like a very interesting mix.
