It is nice to see the list growing so fast -- which means there are
lots of people interested in a CC-HK project. :-)

Sorry that I cannot come tomorrow since I have another meeting,
looking forward to any thought / idea / action come up when some of
you meet tomorrow before / after the talk.

Great to meet you Kenneth. We will videotape the event and I will post it
online in addition to blogging it.
Also, the Journalism & Media Studies Center will likely send in a formal
response to the consultation paper soon before the April 30th deadline. I
welcome any suggestions. We will be focusing on the freedom of expression
side of things since we are a journalism center, and we figure that the
ISP's will be lodging a strong response about their liabilities.

By the way should we be inviting Charles Mok to join this list?

Cheers,
Rebecca

Hi Yahong, Rebecca and everyone,

Too bad that I cannot come tomorrow as I can't leave work too early to come
to HKU. I am very glad to see the seed of CC in HK is growing.

Let me introduce myself. I am the IP Manager of ASTRI
(http://www.astri.org ), a Hong Kong government funded research
organization. I have the chance to work with many leading IP lawyers and
consumer electronics OEM/ODM in HK. Although I do not believe commercial
lawyers here will openly support CC, they may be able to contribute
privately. Some told me personally that they are angry at the current
copyright consultation document, which may impose many unjust regulations.

I believe that the most urgent need is to adopt CC license for HK use.
This requires copyright law expertise, which Yahong can definitely
contribute a lot. Although I am not a lawyer, I received some trainings in
law and will try to contribute any way I can.

Thanks

Kenneth
