Hi everyone,

The fourth annual Open Education Week is about to be upon us! Set to take place 9-13 March, 2015, it will again feature a series of videos, in-person events, webinars, and resources from around the world. As in previous years, we invite you to host your own event during the week. Additionally, we’d like to collaborate with you on an activity if you are interested!

The purpose of the week is to raise awareness of open educational resources (OER) through events and learning opportunities, and there is always a need for the CC community to highlight how CC licensing makes educational content “open.” Moreover, the CC community continues to innovate in open education and this is a great opportunity to share your amazing work with the world.

We have started this Google doc to start compiling CC network activities for open education week.

One activity that Alek (CC Poland) has already added is “Lesson about openness” - a joint effort to conduct, around the world, 2-3 hour educational workshops about OER. Materials for the workshop (e.g., a lesson, discussion, plus activity) will be developed over the coming month by the CC Poland team and translated into English. We’re hoping that interested affiliates will translate the content and either organize the lesson themselves in their country or region, or recruit other educators and activists to take part. Anyone interested in this should get in touch with me and Alek soon so we can figure out how to go forward - we will organize a planning call in the coming month. We are thinking of branding it as a series of School of Open workshops in some regions where that might be more effective, but are open to your ideas.

Other / all activities are most welcome! Even something as simple as conducting a webinar or local presentation about CC licensing as it applies to education during the week will be very helpful. It will be great for us to make a strong, global CC showing for open education week by providing webinars, sessions, videos in multiple languages and timezones.

The deadline for submission for featuring on the Open Ed Week website is soon - 10 February 2014.

All submissions will be promoted on http://www.openeducationweek.org/ during Open Education Week. Of course it will be ideal if anything submitted by CC Affiliates is licensed CC BY 4.0.

Thank your for your consideration and participation!

Best,

Jane + CC ed team
