in response to your neat summary, here's some data about the state of CC
Poland in 2009.
CC Poland:
2 partner institutions (one university research center, one private law
firm)
2 public leads (one full time, one part time)
1 legal lead (part time)
Workforce (including leads):
1 person hired full time
1 person working part time as part of their work duties
2 persons working part time pro bono
Budget in 2009 (some items cannot be easily estimated - especially the
budget equivalent of part time work):
- funds from our research center's own budget: approx. 5 000 EUR
- grant for promoting open science and creating a collection of open
science books: approx. 30 000 EUR
Publicity/PR/Outreach:
creativecommons.pl:
23 000 users
30 000 visits
65 000 pageviews
(we're not keeping track of random media engagements or talks / lectures
that we give)
Key CC PL activities:
- conference on open science organized by CC Poland in may 2009
- conference on open education organized at the Polish Parliament by the
Coalition for Polish Education (CC Poland is its founding member)
- Guidebook on open science released at the end of 2009, sent out to
major scientific and academic institutions
- free licensing endorsed in the government's "Digitalization Program
2009-2020"
Other important events / outcomes:
- Colalition for Open Education formed at the beginning of 2009
- Ministry of Culture introduced CC licensing as a recommended mechanism
in a grant program for cultural education
- Orange Foundation (funded by the Orange telecom group) introduced
obligatory CC BY licensing to a cultural education grant program
(overall value approx. 400 000 EUR)
