Hi, Mike and Nathan are the best ones to advise you on this. I would
recommend reading through the archives of the cc-devel and cc-community
mailing lists to see about this task.
I think that a search engine prototype that understood RDFa would be
really cool. It would especially be cool if it were generalized past
CC; that is, building on ccNutch to add support for RDFa, and then
allowing querying based on the relationships described by the triples
(ie, documents that have a license predicate, documents that are of
type "audio", etc).
I know that a problem with ccNutch before was that we didn't have the
resources (or desire, perhaps) to run a full-time crawler. So getting
a good crawl that actually had RDFa in it would be a prerequisite for
this working well. Anyway, in my opinion this would be a really cool
prototype if nothing else. Mike, what're your thoughts?
The kind of mentoring you could expect is to advise you on the progress,
checking in with you regularly, code review, and more discussion.
More substantially we can connect you with people involved in the RDFa
spec process, etc.
Please let me know if this doesn't fully answer your questions.
Nathan
Generally, if you (or anyone is into CC and GSoC), please ramp up the
contributions to the development community prior in chat and on this
list...cheers! BONUS POINTS: To anyone who contributes prior and/or
edits/adds to our wiki....cheers!
Yeah, "cheers", I suppose.
