For all those people in Canberra who expressed interest in a CC Roadshow in the nation’s capital, you will be happy to know that we have slated a roadshow for early next year. In the mean time, IP Australia and ccAustralia are hosting a Science Commons seminar with John Wilbanks from Science Commons and ccAustralia’s Professor Brian Fitzgerald. Details below:
CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSING SEMINAR – A PERSPECTIVE FROM COPYRIGHT AND PATENT LAW
IP Australia is hosting a seminar featuring John Wilbanks, Vice President of USA based organisation Creative Commons and Professor Brian Fitzgerald, Professor of Intellectual Property and Innovation at QUT. The expert speakers will discuss how Creative Commons (CC) copyright and patent licenses work with reference to case studies.
These presentations will outline, from both a copyright and patent perspective, how CC licenses work. They will also discuss a new model of patent licensing that allows patent holders to make portions of their patent portfolios available to the broader community while still retaining the defensive benefits of patents.
Speakers: John Wilbanks, Vice President, Science, Creative Commons; Professor Brian Fitzgerald, Research Professor of Intellectual Property and Innovation, QUT School of Law, Queensland University of Technology, Co-Project Lead, Creative Commons Australia.
Date: Thursday, 28 October 2010.
Times: 2.00 pm – 3.30 pm.
Venue: Discovery House, 47 Bowes Street, Woden, Canberra (map).
Register: RSVP required: Email marketing AT ipaustralia.gov.au.
