Is this on? I am sending from the web interface at
http://franklin.oit.unc.edu/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=bluesky but I don't
know the address to use for sending email to the list.

One of the issues which has been discussed on the Freenet mailing list is
the difficulty of engineering a system suitable for use in a country where
the government is restricting access to the net. A good example today is
China, but of course in the future more countries may have restrictions.

Even today, in the U.S. there are potential dangers in running peer to
peer software due to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. This act
requires those offering file distribution to publish an address where
copyright owners can contact them to request that files be removed, and
then of course the operators must comply.

There is a conflict between the need to make your system's address known
to others in the system (so that files can be shared) and the need to keep
it secret from government or private agencies who want to restrict what
you read and publish.
