Trying to get X working in Basic Linux using the default
graphics on an old IBM Thinkpad T20 laptop.
S3 Savage IX is the culprit.
Did Xvesa not work?It does not work with this chip at all.
S3 server does not work, nor does the tinyX savage server. So far, have used Basic Linux 3.50 with both Slack4.0's
svga and s3 xservers alternatively loaded.
Should work perfectly.Open to using another xserver here.
Framebuffer might work. Sindi knows how to set this up.
As a last resort, you could try the vga16 server. That works, in 16 colors which Opera no longer accepts
unless you go back to Opera 6 which does not work at
many sites, even fastmail.
Cheers,
