I indicated to my email program to send "plain text" but that didn't seem to work. I am trying something else with this e-mail. Please let me know if this works better. I was able to install Opera 9.20 and get it to work. There is a 9.50 version as well. Its the last one in the "Older Versions" archive. I still would like to get 9.64 to work, just for the more current security features. Thanks for all your help.
It is now sending quoted-printable and a duplicate copy with HTML tags but at least the plain copy is readable with 'mail'. Keep trying.
The page I reached by following 'other versions', 'linux', etc., has Opera 9.27 and 9.52, and arc.opera.com all the older versions.
Opera 9 works with 32MB RAM, 8.54 with 24MB (keep only one tab open and browse without images).
I never had any security problems that I know of with any Opera version. 7 is bigger due to ad banners. 6 works in mono or 16-color.
If you don't need much javascript use links2 (Steven posted a BL3 version and I posted one for svgalib and glibc 2.2.5), or even Dillo.
