Hi Steven, hi Sindi,

I finally tried to setup the gateway from one notebook through
another notebook to the internet.

- both laptops are running BL3 without add-ons

- the gateway machine has a PCI network card and a PCMCIA wifi-card

- the client machine has a PCMCIA network card

- the connection is a cross-wired cable

I am pretty sure now, that the hardware is ok and recognized.

What I did:

- initialize the network cards

- ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 on GW machine

- ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2 on client machine

- route add default gw 192.168.1.1 on client machine

- udhpcd -i eth1 on GW machine, returning
IP = 10.0.0.2 and DNS = 10.0.0.138

The result:

- both machines ping to each other

- GW machine is online

- client machine pings to 10.0.0.2

- client machine does not ping to 10.0.0.138 and has no
connection to the internet

Probably there is still one step missing (ip forwarding?).

Any ideas?

Christof
