BL 3.40, icewm from BL 3.32 adds, libs from Slackware 3.9

Emacs: 21.4.2 compiled by myself on PC with Slackware 3.9

I have no problems with running emacs GUI version on BL 3.40
though I had to install some additional libs from Slackware.

For PCs with 8 MB RAM - you need some swap to run emacs GUI.

For PCs with 16 MB RAM - emacs GUI runs without swap but
if you want to write in Japanese, using Japanese input method
and nice Kana-To-Kanji converter, you need also some swap.

BTW 1 answer to all people wondering "why to run BL on PCs
newer than 486": no other Linux distro gives me command
prompt and start X so fast. A short while and I can write
in Japanese, Vietnamese and share text files with utf-8 users.

BTW Steven, have you compiled X server yourself or used
standard from Slackware 4.0?

Chris.
