Does your win2k computer have a static IP address?
For example: 192.168.1.1
Or does it assign IP addresses via DHCP?

Your first step is to assign an IP address to the BasicLinux
computer (an IP address that is on the same net with the
win2k computer). For example: 192.168.1.2

You can do this directly (ifconfig) or via DHCP.
See /root/netsetup for the commands.
