Some other dialing programs can cooperate with an ISP to assign a DNS number when you dial, but eznet does not do that. (In Windows, dial-up networking does not require DNS numbers to be specified, for instance). You can use any pair of DNS numbers pointing to a DNS server that is currently working. I am using numbers from two other ISPs because mine did not post any, they just explained in excruciating detail how to set up Windows to dial. If you cannot find DNS numbers, I will send you mine.

Your problem probably is in /etc/resolv.conf
Put in the correct DNS addresses for your ISP.

I could be wrong, but isn't dial-up supposed to have
that information automatically set?

No. You need to specify the DNS (Domain Name Server)
address.

it gives me the IP address I get when I ppp-on.
Am I supposed to be doing something with it?

No, that is your current address. The DNS address is
different. It is required to convert alphanumeric URLs
into numeric addresses.

Cheers,
Steven
