Why would I want to do this? This would be much harder than just
compiling everything. It would be easier to just download the package
and build it the normal way.

.pps files are similar to what is used by MagicPoint. They contain
text, style and format cues, perhaps some images, and (rarely)
sounds to play back during the presentation.
