Does your rpm package contain the source code for
the module (which needs compiling) or is it the
ready-to-use module?
To compile a module for the BL3 kernel, you need
a compiler and the 2.2.16 kernel source code.
Alternatively, to use a ready-to-use module, it must
have been compiled for the 2.2.16 kernel. That's why
I recommend, users get a module from Slackware 7.1
(which provides pre-compiled 2.2.16 modules).
The following 3com network modules are available in
Slackware 7.1: 3c501.o 3c503.o 3c505.o 3c507.o
3c509.o 3c515.o 3c59x.o 3c574_cs.o 3c575_cb.o
3c589_cs.o. Is it possible that your network card
might work with one of them? Or perhaps one of the
other ready-to-use modules in Slackware 7.1?
Cheers,
Steven
