VNC is a pair of programs, client and server, which give remote access
to a computer where the server is installed and running, from any
computer where you can run the client.

http://www.realvnc.com

It is currently available for Windows 9x/2000/NT/XP (x86), Linux (x86),
and Solaris 2.5 (SPARC) in binaries, and source code for all other
platforms.

It is supposed to be easy to install (even if you have to compile it),
and every client is supposed to interoperate with every server, no
matter what OS each is running on. The client software is small
enough to fit on a floppy disk, which makes it a favorite for being
able to remote control a computer from somewhere on the road.

I've played with it, and generally been happy, but it doesn't have any
encryption on the link that it creates - so I only use it on the local
network, and it works well, even over a modem link.

Hope this helps,
Anthony Albert
