The rendering “in its place” comes from a textual emendation, עַל־כַּנּוֹ, a phrase that also appears in 11:38. The early versions have “on the temple” (ἐπὶ τὸ ἱερὸν ; et in templo).

Subject: [b-hebrew] The Meaning of W:(AL K:NAP in Daniel 9:27c

W:(AL K:NAP at the beginning of Daniel 9:27c is in the construct state and literally means "on a wing of." Among the translations of these words I have seen are

"in its place" ("in its place a desolating abomination comes..." [Lexham
English Bible])

and

"upon the wing [i.e., of the temple]" (upon the wing [of the temple] shall be an Abomination-Apalling" [Montgomery's commentary on the book of Daniel]).

I would like to know what semantic and grammatical justification, if any, there is for these two renderings of W:(AL K:NAP.
