I know that in Christian circles some scribes would copy each word as it was read out loud to them.  Looking at how the Isaiah scroll handles the Tetragrammaton I was curious if some of the differences in reading between it and the Massoretic text could be the result of a similar practice. I mean if the one reading said "adonai" for both adonai and YHWH we would expect some copy error.  Do we have any clear evidence to determine if this was a method used in copying Hebrew Scriptures?
Sincerely,
Michael Abernathy
