I just found in Strongs Hebrew dictionary, under entry H894, the word בבל
says it is from H1101 בלל. (Outline of Biblical Usage for H1101 is:
*1)* to mix, mingle, confuse, confound
*a)* (Qal)
*1)* to mingle, confuse
*2)* to mix
*3)* to give provender, feed (animals)
*b)* (Hithpoel) to mix oneself (among others)
*c)* (Hiphil) to fade away(confusion)
Futher looking at H1167 (בעל) it is translated at least one time in the KJV
as "Babbler"
so I thought there might be a link between בעל , בלל and בבל.

Philip, It is related to Bel in that the Akkadian dropped the Ayin over time
and the two vowels reduced to an e sound. Babel is from an entirely different
root. HTH, James ________________________________ James Spinti E-mail
