Correct. "Hamaqom" as a title or euphemism for God only appears in Rabbinic
writings. However in the logic of the rabbis, when Jacob "hit the spot" (my
translation :-) ), he actually "met" God. But this has nothing to do with the
issue at hand.

example of the word that I found it means merely “the place”.
