the text in these chapters is pretty bumpy, with big leaps of thought, without
so much an effort to fill in the in-between (BEIN HASHITIN),
as if the author were in a hurry. here is my feeble effort to recover
the in-between of his message.
eat and drink
[i.e. be happy because you are alive, which is]
already
[a hugh priviledge. and since]
god
[gave you this priviledge, it is only because he must have]
approved of your deeds.
[so dont worry too much about deeds and their rewards].
under this interpretation, there is a fatalism here, and also godly
decision [to give and deny life]. but the fatalism is not absolute
because god somehow weighs people's deeds.
