There is a delightful article by Robert Patrick
evaluating the new Latin standards.
http://www.tcl.camws.org/spring2010/TCL_I_ii_Perspectives_Patrick.html
He argues that a teacher must be able to meaningfully converse in the
language at the level of teaching.
In particular he points out the implications of what it means
when knowledge about SLA is required. This is also a must read
for those interested in Greek pedagogy, or in ancient language
pedagogy in general.
It certainly has bearing on Hebrew learning.
