Hi all,
since Karl mentioned that the basis of Egyptian history is largely a priest named Manetho I've been interested in how much Egyptian history can be trusted. The following article on wikipedia about is interesting:

Apparently the work that most of our Egyptian history is based on is his Aegyptiaca. It gets worse, though. A quick glance of the transmission of the Aegyptiaca calls into question how much of it accurately refelcts Manetho's original work. Let alone just how reliable a source Manetho was. Take a look at the transmission section of the Aegyptiaca.
