Hi,

The Hebrew and the Greek psalms can differ quite a lot so I'm not sure just how much value you would get out of a commentary on the Hebrew text unless your aim is to highlight the differences and how they might have come about.

For commentaries on the Greek psalms you might want to look to early writers like John Chrysostom who wrote no less than 59 commentaries on the psalms. I'm sure there are many more ancient authors whose 2p's worth are still extant in some form or other.

Quoting Louis Sorenson <llsorenson AT hotmail.com>:

I'm looking for the best commentaries on the Psalms. One that focuses on the the Hebrew text, but also on the genre as a whole. I want to use it as a background commentary for reading the Psalms in the Greek Septuagint. Does anyone have any comments on these two commentaries? Are there other commentaries specifically dealing with the Greek Psalms, I am aware of none.

Two commentaries I have found of note are
Word Biblical Commentary: Psalms 1-50, Second Edition, Volume 19
