Also, if a list member has a complaint about a moderator, the proper, well-mannered thing to do, is to take it up directly with the moderator, OFF LIST, and not in public on the list, as the Torah teaches - not to rebuke/embarrass someone in public. There is no reason or need to engage the list members in such a discussion.

Dear Dr. Barr,

I agree with George Athas' call to the closing of this thread. HE IS NOT BEING
ARBITRARY AT THIS. His job as moderator is to ascertain the contents of a thread
and to determine if it begins to go outside of the bounds of the list
guidelines. Sometimes, and I do mean sometimes, even I violate the list
guidelines. That is usually not my intention, but it does happen.

I am a basketball official of High School basketball in both boy's and girls
divisions and various levels. I have done so now into my 23rd year and 3300+
games so far. As a basketball official I have to give warnings, call violations,
fouls, technical fouls, and even eject players, coaches and fans when it is
necessary in the capacity of my job to do so. George is a Online Discussion
Referee (Moderator). Thus, his job is to give the warning, call the violation,
foul, technical foul, or eject the list member that is breaking the rules.
This
is NEVER arbitrary NOR easy. One has to grow alligator skin to take the flack,
but it becomes one's duty to do the job, even when it is necessary to eject a
person, to maintain decorum, civility, or manners/etiquette. Otherwise there
is
anarchy, chaos, confusion, ETC.

Please remember Proverbs 6:16-19 especially 19b.

George, if I have stepped out of bounds on this. I apologize in advance.

The co-moderator, George Athas, is arbitrary is dictating what is appropriate to
this forum. If he doesn't like it, he closes the thread. All of my posts have to
do with the literature of the Hebrew Bible which he himself has stated is the
subject of this forum. I submit that Mr. Athas is simply indulging in censorship
based on his personal preferences without regard to the subject matter of the
b-Hebrew forum. Certainly the authorship of the Pentateuch is a matter related
to the study of the literature of the Hebrew Bible. And yet he sees fit to close
the thread, and without explanation. Mr. Athas seems intent of preserving some
sort of self-styled status quo and does not support intellectual debate and
cooperative learning unless it fits his personal agenda. I do not hear from
the
other moderators. Its is always Athas that jumps on my posts as somehow
"inappropriate." I appeal to the list members to withstand this arbitrary
censorship
of one of the moderators. If I am in violation of some rule of b-Hebrew, let
that rule be cited and defended by all the moderators and the list owner, who,
by the way, is non-responsive to my questions. Athas wastes your with his
arbitrary and over restrictive, self-invented rules of personal "protocol."
