Yitzhak:
The reason I said it makes no sense is because the subject of the verse are
the יצוע YCW( (plural) which appear to be flying buttresses, then the
מגרעות MGR(WT
sound like indentations (sockets) in the wall, after which I do not expect
to find a negation about those holding to the wall.

If, on the other hand, it were לבתי אחז LBTY )XZ with the אחז )XZ being a
participle, then it fits the context that the מגרעות MGR(WT are
indentations, sockets, in the outer wall to hold the flying buttresses. The
context then makes sense.

The use of בתים BTYM plural of בית BYT to refer to sockets is found, e.g.
Exodus 25:17, 30:4, 37:27.

Because of the contextual clues, it appears that we might be dealing with a
textual copying error. That's why I ask, is this verse found in any of the
DSS, and if so, what does the DSS say?

Karl W. Randolph.
