Bill Rea wrote, inter alia:
"I often found it difficult to understand why he [Lemkhe] and
TLT [Thompson] used the words they did to describe their views
as they were often using them in very non-standard ways,
ways which would be almost certainlymisunderstood by the
causal reader "
Both of these gentlemen spent paractically their entire careers
in an effort to denude the historical narratives of the HB, till
Neo-Assyrian times, of any scholarly value. They made their
position clear in dozens of publications. Their views and
specific arguments were refuted, sometimes one by one,
by many scholars.
I don't know what what you mean by describing their words as
"very non- standard". It is true that Thomas Thompson often
uses an opaque style, but this is far from being "non standard",
neither is it confined to some biblical scholars. Some consider
a bombastic and convoluted style an inadequate cover for
paucity of thought.

shalom,
has anyone spotted anything relatively recent on the following, or know of
someone currently researching in the specific area:
(1) word-counting algorithms, subsequent to vance's literature review in
his 2001 opus "the question of meter in biblical hebrew"?
(2) on the clitic and/or maqqef in tiberian hebrew morphophonology?
(3) on Jonah 2? (doesn't necessarily have to be on the poetry as such.)
any and all references will be greatly appreciated. in the case of ongoing
research, any contact info will be helpful.
