Perhaps I wasn't clear. I'm not talking about counting to 10. (And I
used the phrase "10 commandments" because I thought everyone here
would know where in Exodus to look for them.)
My question is why the printed and electronic VERSE numberings do not
match. For example the elctronic versions list "you shall not steal"
as part of 20:13, while the printed versions list it as 20:15.
Surprisingly, even the electronic version of the JPS translation, as
provided in the popular Bibleworks program, does not match the printed
JPS translation.
My question is where these verse numbering systems come from, and why
the printed and electronic texts *of the same version* do not agree.
Does anyone know?
