I seem to remember a report that the Ebla tablets indicate that there
were two ancient cities named Ur, one of the Sumerians and the other
of the Chaldeans. Is there anything to that?

The arguments against Abraham being from Sumer include that Abraham
was Chaldean, not Sumerian, that he was quite wealthy therefore not an
escaped slave, and the text says that he was from Ur of the Chaldeans.
In other words, this majority opinion doesn't make sense.
