In 1974 I was stationed on Guam in the U.S. Navy.
Our Sunday Evening bible studies leader announced
that we were going to do the book of Genesis next.

I asked him, one-on-one, what he was going to say
about the authorship of the Pentatuch. (I happened
to subscribe to the multiple authorship JEPD
viewpoint.)

He told me, and he had studied Hebrew along the
way, that originally he had also subscribed to the JEPD
viewpoint, but the more he had studied the matter, he
had come to the conclusion that Moses did the whole
thing. I encouraged him to be "fair" in how he handled
it. He said, "We'll see."

On the first night of the new study he started off really
seemingly really good. He told the class that many
scholars are of the opinion that multiple authors were
involved, and described them briefly. The he said,
"But Moses did it."

One second later the four by eight foot blackboard behind
him fell to the floor with a resounding CRASH!

Four eyes, two of his and two of mine were like saucers.

To God be the Glory!
