So if this rule is correct, which it looks like it is, is this the reason why
YHWH, has a shewa instead of a composite shewa under the yod, when being
vocalized as Adonai?

Or do you think it has more to do with it being vocalized as Shema from the
aramaic?

There is clear evidence that Moses understood God anthropomorphically.
Firstly, Gen 1:26 says humanity was created in the tselem of God. Numbers
and Psalms mention the "form" of Yahweh. Moses also mentions his encounter
with God's presence on Sinai. He was forbidden to see his face, but
referrred to God's "backparts." What is the metaphor behind that?
