That's the usual assumption. Of course, different folks have different
lengths of arm and finger.

Hi Yigal,

I understood a "cubit" to be the distance between the elbow and the tip of
the forefinger, or about 18 inches.

Yes, there are some other incongruities in the article as well. The
Hebrew
word "amah" ("cubit") does not mean "elbow", but rather "forearm".

Huh? It would not have mattered what he used, as long as he used the same
thing for both sides.

Yigal, isn't this the same problem with the forearm: big people, large
forearms and little people, little forearms. The way I look at it, it's a
good thing Noah used his forearm for a cubit otherwise one side of the Ark
would have been shorter the other.

Take a pill, Jim. That's not what I said. Please read the entire context
of what I write before you do this sort of thing.

As for the doctor comparison, my wife has been a registered nurse for over
10 years and believe me, having the letters "MD" after your name is about
as
much a guarantee that you have any sense as having the letters "PH.D"
after your name, i.e. it depends on the individual. Any clown can get
through school. I know, I've done it ;-) The question is not, how many
letters do you have after your name, but what do you do with the knowledge
you've acquired? My point was that I only got as far as MA, and that has
definitely been a death sentence as far as being able to teach was
concerned. At the same time, there simply are no jobs in the field (at
least in America); I knew more than one PH.D. who ended up pumping gas for
a living (literally).

When I said everybody is equal here, I meant - and I said in so many words
- that everybody can set their ideas out here for discussion. If you had
read my whole post instead of doing this ridiculous knee-jerk thing, you
would have realized that.
