KIY YFBO' $IYLOH

Douglas Steward has an interesting take on this passage. He suggest that
$IYLOH, may not be one word. He says remove the vowels from Shiloh and
seperart the Shin/yod from the Lamed.

He says that SY by itself means gifts, presents, or gifts.

And that LH was how LW (to him) was once spelled.

So Shiloh could be to words tribute to him. He says going back to YFBO' take
away the vowels again. And says that earlier poems like Gen 49 the original
orthography was vowelless and thus quite ambiguous. So consonants YB' could
represent what was later vocalised as YFB' (comes) or YFBIY' (brings, hiphil)
or YWBF' (is brought, hopal) etc. The last option he says fits this theory.

He concluds that SHILOH should be `D KIY- YWBF' $AY LOH

Until tribute is brought to him, and says this fits perfectly with the
parallel line ("and the obediance of the nations is his.)

Sounds good to me.
