I've heard the following proposition and would be interested in the list's observation:
The rabbis chose to end the prophetic era because they wanted the Oral Law to be the source of innovation, rather than the prophets. They nominally ended the prophetic era at Ezra because that was the time of the Great Assembly, their own starting point.
Perhaps this is the anti-prophetic feeling.
