- Subject: [b-hebrew] A question about )DM in Isa. 29:19
- Date: Fri, 6 Aug 2004 14:34:54 -0500
Greetings all:
M. Dahood suggests that )DM ('adam) in Isa. 29:19 is a masculine form of
)DMH('adamah). In support of this three other examples are cited--Prov.
30:14b; Jer. 32:20; Zech. 13:5. The line in which the word appears is
usually translated "the needy of mankind" or some such. If Dahood's
explanation is accepted it would mean "the needy of the land."
What do you think of Dahood's suggestion?
