Yigal,
Some more info on Jeremiah 8:18 - MABLIYGITIY
Old Greek: aniata "incurable" (reinterpreted as two words as mentioned
before)
Aquila: meidiama mou "my smile"
Symmachus: chleuazeis me "you scoff at me"[= L(G?]
Theodotion: dia to mè einai hubrin "because of the absence of pride" [=
G)H?]
Vulgate: dolor meus "my affliction" (based on Aquila, where "smile" is
understood as a contorted face because of suffering)
This info comes from Jan de Waard's "Handbook on Jeremiah".
