This verb is usually connected with Y)$ with the meaning of despairing.
However, Y)$ as a verb is found only once, in Ecclesiastes 2:20. In Job 6:26
we find a possible other root N)$ with a possible meaning of quitting an
ongoing action, i.e. to knock it off. That meaning seems to fit better in
Isaiah 57:10 and Jeremiah 2:25. Any thoughts on the matter? Any cognate
language clarifications?
