Peter Kirk wrote:
"But when they came across quail arriving in spring on
the shores of the southern sea, as the account states, they would have
expected them to be edible - and all the more so as they had eaten quail at
the same time the year before without ill effects, Exodus 16:13 - both are
dated to the second month, counting the Passover as the first month (Ex
16:1, Num 10:11). So it was a surprise to them that these quail were toxic,
and so seriously so that they killed strong men within seconds. There may be
no obvious medical explanation, but none is needed because the explanation
is given in the text, the anger of YHWH."
Dear Peter,
Your perception is admirable ! I understand that the story possesses
"miracles." These "miracles," for me, are in the form of INVERSIONS or
REVERSALS of Nature by God.
Inversion One: North-bound SPRING quail which are Non-poisonous are made
poisonous by Yahweh.
Inversion Two: Exhausted quail falling from sky occurs ONLY near El Arish
and the Northern Sinai's shoreline according to Professor Kraeling- whilst
God is portrayed causing them to alight in the SOUTHERN SINAI _contra_ a
northern Sinai touchdown.
Inversion Three: Instead of the medically attested aged and infirm dying of
eating poisonous quail, it is by Yahweh's power that the mighty men of
warrior age, drop like flies of plague with the flesh between their teeth.
Inversion Four: Death is immediate, before they have even finsihed eating
the birds, whereas medical science allows several days to pass before onset
of death.
These are the INVERSION "Miracles" in the Exodus story !
