- Subject: [b-hebrew] Joshua in the Amarna Letters ?

I understand that Joshua is yhwsw. A name, Yishuya, appears in the Amarna
letters (EA 256 line 18) which Moran renders as "a west semitic name, a
hypostation of {Divine Name} has saved [ysh`]." (p.385. "Index of Proper
Names." Moran. _The Amarna Letters._ 1987)
I am struck by the similarity between yhwsw and yishuya is there a
relationship here, that is, could yishuya be a more archaic form of yhwsw ?
If so, is Yhw- a "LATE FORM" of an archaic Yi- ? That is, was the God
originally Yi instead of Yah ?
