This book provides an introduction to the languages that are important
for the study of the Hebrew Bible and ancient Israel. It contains
articles on Akkadian, Arabic, Aramaic, Egyptian, Biblical and Epigraphic

dialects (Ammonite, Edomite, and Moabite), and Ugaritic. The
