Greek uses cases endings whereas Hebrew does not. All names in Greek must
have a case
ending. In the case of Shelomoh, the case ending given accords with the Greek
third
declension nominative case ending: -n. Hence, Shelomoh came to be Salomon or
Solomon.
It's a common phenomenon. It's just that most of the time, the case endings
end with a
Greek sigma: -s. When a personal name ended in a consonant, a case ending was
usually not
appended. However, most of the time when the name ended with a vowel sound, a
case ending
was appended.
