I had read the imperfect form in this verse
in a durative sense, given the fact that the
context does imply something about the current
situation as well as the future... (and not because
it would allow "everyone" to be "right")
Of course, I dont quite know how to cleanly
translate the full meaning of the phrase into English...
I am by no means dogmatic about my reading;
if someone could shed some light on this,
especially with cognates, I would be very
interested in listening...
