Dear Brian,
I apologize for using Joseph, when you sign as Brian.
Alviero did not explicitly defend his interpretation of Ps 134:3 by
mentioning the change in person of the verbal object from second-plural in
verses 1-2 to second-singular in verse 3. However, his interpretation
nullifies any need for the supposition that the change in number is a sign
of redaction. If the psalmist were addressing the priests for the entire
psalm, there would really be no need to change the number from plural to
singular. But if the priests respond to the psalmist with a benediction,
then there is need for such a change.
Yours,
Harold Holmyard
