Dear Joseph,
1. In 1 Sam 1:28 some manuscripts read YI$:T.AX:AWW according to Keil,
1 Samuel (Commentary on the OT) (the last W is shureq). I do not know where
you saw the form pointed as Y.I$:T.:EXWU. Keil's form is a third plural:
"they worshiped." The verb is irregular, listed in BDB under $FXFH, but
apparently improperly. Perhaps it is listed as XWH in K&B. Keil's variant
equates to variant c in the BHS apparatus at 1:28. Keil argues that 1 Sam
1:28 is not a conclusion since 1 Sam 2:1-11 completes the transference of
Samuel to Eli's care. So he feels that the singular works fine. Samuel
worshiped.
2. As to the Qumran reading WT$TX[W], apparently it refers to Hannah
worshiping as a third singular, feminine imperfect.
Yours,
Harold Holmyard
